The aim of the course is to present modern theoretical and practical approaches regarding the contribution of Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) in combating Physical Inactivity (PI) through enhancing Physical Activity (PA). PA is one of the main risks of death worldwide. Enhancing PA in all segments of the population is one of the main goals of all international organizations and for this reason PA guidelines are issued for all age groups. ICT can contribute significantly to compliance with the guidelines if they produce measurable and “readable” values.
Applications of Technology in Health
The purpose of the course is to familiarize students with information and communication technologies (ICT) in the field of health so that they can use them as:
a means of simulation and investigation,
a subject for data collection and processing,
a basis for demonstration and interaction and
a tool for prevention, rehabilitation and maximization of health performance
Psychosocial Rehabilitation Techniques
The aim of the course is to provide specialized knowledge and develop skills regarding the role of exercise in the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of individuals with chronic cardiovascular, metabolic and oncological diseases, with an emphasis on the biopsychosocial approach, safety, individualization of interventions and interdisciplinary healthcare.
Research Methodology in Health
The aim of the course is to teach the basic principles of implementing and writing a research study related to health, applying the rules that a scientific paper follows. The organization of health studies, experimental designs, morbidity indicators, risk and diagnostic control measures, topic selection, literature review, research approach, methodology development, data collection and learning statistical analyses with applied examples, presentation and interpretation of results as well as the way to develop the discussion that leads to the conclusions of a scientific study are the main topics that are developed in detail in this course. Also, significant reference is made to understanding the stages for writing and completing a Master’s Thesis.
