
I am very pleased to welcome you to the Inter-Institutional Postgraduate Program (M.Sc.) entitled: “Clinical Exercise and Applications of Technology in Health”.
This innovative postgraduate program was developed by the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science (D.P.E.S.S.) of the School of Physical Education, Sport Science and Occupational Therapy of the Democritus University of Thrace, in collaboration with the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications of the National Center for Scientific Research “DEMOKRITOS.” The program has been In operation since the academic year 2018–2019, in accordance with Law 4485/2017 (Government Gazette A’114).
The program aims to provide specialized knowledge on the contribution of exercise and physical activity to health, both in healthy individuals and clinical populations, as well as on the applications of modern technology in the field of health.
A core pillar of this M.Sc. program is interdisciplinary education through the use of new technologies and cross-disciplinary training, enabling postgraduate students to respond competitively to the demands of the labor market while enhancing their professional skills and career prospects in areas involving specialized exercise programs for both healthy and clinical populations.
The program is structured over three academic semesters and offers distance learning as one of its main educational tools. This allows participation by students living in remote areas, as well as by professionals, individuals with family or other obligations, and those with mobility challenges, supported by the Department’s accessibility infrastructure and the student support and welfare services of the Democritus University of Thrace. Furthermore, the program promotes innovation in learning and research, equipping postgraduate students with the necessary tools to achieve their future professional goals.
